VATESI reported for Lithuania under Joint Convention on the Safety of Spent Fuel Management and on the Safety of Radioactive Waste Management

The Fifth Review Meeting of the Contracting Parties to Joint Convention on the Safety of Spent Fuel Management and on the Safety of Radioactive Waste Management was held in 12–22 May 2015 at the IAEA Headquarters, in Vienna, Austria.

Lithuania continues to meet its obligations under the terms of the Joint Convention and maintains a consistency of ensuring safety in the management of spent fuel and radioactive waste.

Lithuanian delegation, headed by VATESI Deputy Head for Radiation Safety Vidas Paulikas, presented the Fourth National Report and general information about spent fuel management, waste management, plans to dispose waste, improvement of legislation and licensing system, decommissioning of Ignalina NPP.

Representatives of the delegation answered questions, which were received in advance and during the meeting.
