Nuclear facilities in Lithuania are under close supervision

During the current COVID-19 pandemic, State Nuclear Power Safety Inspectorate (VATESI) is carrying out the supervision of nuclear facilities in Lithuania as usual with some changes in inspection activities.

The staff of VATESI’s headquarters is planning to perform some inspections remotely, by means of telecommunication, other regular and not urgent inspections, planned till April 13, 2020 are or would be postponed.

VATESI closely following the situation and measures taken by license holder to assure safe and secure activities at permanently shut down Ignalina NPP Unit 1 and Unit 2 as well as at other nuclear facilities.

In the widespread disease and precautionary measures, taken by license holder and VATESI, the level of safety and security of Ignalina NPP is maintained on the same (acceptable) level as before.
