IAEA Integrated Regulatory Review Service Mission starts in Lithuania

17 April, 2016 IAEA Integrated Regulatory Review Service Mission starts to assess Lithuania’s legal and governmental framework and regulatory infrastructure for nuclear and radiation safety. During the Mission, from 17 to 29 April, 24 IAEA experts will assess nuclear and radiation safety regulatory infrastructure, will visit Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant and radioactive waste management and storage facilities, companies and hospitals, which are working with sources of ionising radiation.

The IRRS experts will evaluate the state’s regulatory infrastructure for safety with respect to IAEA safety standards and best practices, and will provide recommendations and suggestions for improvement.
