State enterprise Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant (INPP) successfully installed in spent nuclear fuel pools new water level control equipment and submitted to VATESI review final report about the completed safety improvement measures. This equipment will allow INPP staff to monitor water level in spent nuclear fuel pools during accident conditions with very low frequency and to make relevant decisions to manage such accidents as well as to mitigate its consequences.
VATESI accepted safety improvement report. It should be noted that all safety improvement measures were completed in Ignalina NPP units and operated spent nuclear fuel storage facility according to EU „stress tests“ results.
Remaining safety improvement measures are under implementation by action plan of Strengthening Nuclear Safety in Lithuania.
