VATESI prepared and submitted to the European Commission report on the implementation of the Council Directive 2011/70/EURATOM of 19 July 2011 establishing a Community framework for the responsible and safe management of spent fuel and radioactive waste. This Report was prepared in consultation with Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Environment, Radiation Protection Centre, State Enterprise Radioactive Waste Management Agency and State Enterprise Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant.
 
Report presents that all Directive provisions are implemented and effective safety regulatory framework for management of spent fuel and radioactive waste in Lithuania has been established, high level of safety of management of spent fuel and radioactive waste management facilities is achieved. Information on implementation of National Radioactive waste management programme is also provided in the Report.
