European Nuclear Safety Regulatory Group (ENSREG) has started a public consultation for documents, which are prepared for the 2nd topical nuclear safety peer review - fire protection in nuclear facilities.

All stakeholders including the public invited to consult and submit comments until 27 of May 2022 for drafted documents:

- Stakeholder Engagement Plan
- Terms of Reference
- Technical Specifications

The documents can be consulted on the ENSREG website: http://www.ensreg.eu/tpr-2-public-engagement.

All suggestions will be evaluated and revised, final versions of the draft documents will be presented for approval by ENSREG in 21 of June 2022. Final documents will be available at the ENSREG site www.ensreg.eu.

The topic of the second TPR is fire protection at nuclear installations and process will continue in 2022-2024. Lithuania will participate in the second topical review.

TPR is a mechanism for EU Member States to examine topics of strategic importance to nuclear safety, to exchange experience and to identify opportunities to strengthen nuclear safety.

The revised Directive (2014/87/EURATOM) introduced a European system of Topical Peer Reviews (TPRs) commencing in 2017 and taking place at least every six years thereafter. Initiation for the peer review process and preparation of relevant documents started in 2020 and in 2021 decision was made to examine the fire protection topic and organize peer review process in nuclear power plants, enrichment plants, research reactor facilities, spent fuel storage facilities and storage facilities for radioactive waste that are on the same site and directly related to the nuclear installations.
