Integrated Regulatory Review Service Follow-up mission on agenda in Lithuania next year

On May 2020, IAEA Integrated Regulatory Review Service (IRRS) Follow-up mission will take place in Vilnius, as it was planned in a preparatory meeting held on 4th December 2019 with IAEA IRRS experts, VATESI, Radiation Protection Centre (RSC) and Ministry of Energy.

During the meeting, experts presented the IAEA defined process for IRRS Follow-up missions, requirements for preparation of advanced reference material. VATESI and RSC specialists provided information about the changes in nuclear and radiation safety regulatory infrastructure and progress in implementing recommendations made since initial IRRS mission in 2016.

IRRS Follow-up missions are invited to evaluate progress made by the country in implementation of recommendations and suggestions provided during the initial mission.

National nuclear and radiation safety regulatory infrastructure should be reviewed under the provisions of the Law of Nuclear Safety and European Council Directive 2009/71/EURATOM.
